Choosing the ideal wedding venue

There are many things to consider of course, is there a location you hold dear to your heart? Is there a place which is special to you and your partner? Are you worried about how far friends and relatives will have to travel to join you on your happy day? Do you have a specific backdrop in mind for you photographs?

So many questions - where on earth do you begin? Well suffice to say you must never loose sight of the fact that it is YOUR day and true friends and relatives will bend over backwards to partake in whatever choice you make.

Whilst the traditional church wedding is still popular with many couples, the convenience of a civil wedding held in a location that will also play host to your wedding breakfast, evening celebration and accommodation for travelling guests is increasing in popularity. Not only is this option convenient with everything under one roof, it also has some cost saving benefits. You only need to decorate one venue – wedding flowers are beautiful but pricey. There is no need for a fleet of wedding cars to drive you five minutes down the road.  That said, the venue will need to be a licensed premises ie a venue that is licensed for marriage ceremonies, this may come with a higher price tag than non-licensed wedding venues.

Of course you may choose to jet off to sunnier climes in order to take your vows or to a snowy mountain or anything in between – there seems to be no limit these days to the places where you can say “I do”.

However, one UK destination that is incredibly popular for wedding venues is the Lake District. Not surprising really with its stunning scenery and a fantastic selection of hotels offering everything from simple ceremonies to lavish 5 star luxury. Whether you choose to take your vows on land or water the Lake District has something to offer.  You’ll be spoilt for choice for beautiful back-drops for your wedding album. Each Lake District hotel has something different to offer, from small and cosy to grand and spectacular, from hidden in the hills to Lake frontage.

It’s well worth considering a Lake District wedding for a day to remember, some Lake District hotels may even have late availability discounts to benefit from.
