How Your Car Can Benefit From Biodiesel

You have heard everyone telling you that you should switch over to biodiesel because it is better for the environment.  You want to help the environment, but what is biodiesel going to do to your car?  Will it hurt your car?  No, biodiesel will not hurt your car.  As a matter of fact, biodiesel can provide your car with many benefits that its petroleum based counterparts just can't match despite what the big oil companies want you to believe.  Biodiesel can be used in your diesel car without any modifications, it treats your car's engine better, you can actually make it at home, and it can be significantly cheaper.  Don't be afraid to make the switch to biodiesel, your car will thank you for it.

If you currently own a vehicle that has a diesel engine then you can run it on biodiesel with any modifications whatsoever.  Many other alternative fuels like ethanol or hydrogen require that modifications be made to your engine so that it can properly burn those fuels.  This isn't the case with biodiesel.  You can simply put biodiesel straight into the fuel tank of your diesel vehicle, start it up, and go.  Biodiesel can be mixed with petroleum based diesel at any percentage.  The diesel you buy at your local service station is probably already 20% biodiesel.

Your diesel vehicle will run better on biodiesel.  Biodiesel burns cleaner therefore creating less carbon and sooty build up problems in your engine.  It also provides better lubrication than petroleum based diesel and will help your engine run more efficiently and reduce breakdowns due to engine wear.  Biodiesel also smells better.  If you are tired of your diesel car emitting those clouds of black smoke and smelling like a big rig then perhaps you would relish a fuel like biodiesel that burns with very little smoke and has exhaust fumes that have been described as smelling like french fries.

Biodiesel is produced in a very simple process that you can perform in your garage if you are so inclined to make your own biodiesel at home.  You can transform used cooking oil into biodiesel in just a few steps for about $0.70 a gallon.  You and your car will both love that.

The cost of biodiesel will continue to fall as more and more people start to use it.  Check out the pumps at your local service station and see how much biodiesel is already mixed in with the petroleum based diesel you have been buying.  Oil companies will tell you that they mix in biodiesel because they care about you and the environment.  They do it because of the cost.  Additionally, beyond the savings in the price of the fuel itself, biodiesel will save you money by reducing your repair bills.

Biodiesel is not just good for the environment, it is good for your car.  It can be used without modification to most diesel engines, it is better for engines than petroleum based diesel, it can be made at home from used cooking oil, and it can provide significant cost savings on both fuel and repairs.  Do your car a favor. Switch over to biodiesel.
